Cycle 2 – Heroines -Traveller – Homage
Description
Voyageuse – Homage was created for the traveling exhibition Sur La Route, organized by the Monteoliveto Gallery: a slow bicycle journey across Italy, with small-format artworks — all made from eco-responsible materials — exhibited along the route, shaped by encounters and landscapes.
The A5 format was deliberate.
It implied lightness, mobility, restraint. The recycled paper and the frame crafted from a rescued book extend this intention: to create without extracting more, to transform rather than accumulate, to allow art to move gently through the world.
Here, the artistic gesture seeks coherence with the movement it celebrates — a conscious, attentive, respectful way of traveling.
At the center stands an owl, grounded upon the Earth.
A figure of watchfulness and wisdom, she appears both anchored and ready for flight. Her body becomes territory: a sailboat, an airplane, a bicycle unfold within her, different expressions of the same desire for exploration. Around her, constellations trace a delicate cartography, reminding us that every journey is also a way of finding one’s place — in the world and within oneself.
This drawing pays tribute to the co-founder of the Monteoliveto Gallery.
A passionate traveler, endlessly curious, attentive to others and eager to learn, she moved through life with courage and wonder. She faced illness as one faces a storm — without ever giving up on the horizon.
In this owl lives her quiet strength.
In these celestial paths, her appetite for life.
In May 2025, the work was finalist in the 3rd Salamander International Art Prize “Artisti in vista,” organized by the Monteoliveto Gallery in association with Vergini Sanità ASP and the Piccola Galleria Resistente.
Voyageuse is an ode to slow travel, but also to those who keep moving forward, even when the road grows uncertain.
Perhaps traveling is not so much about changing places as it is about keeping alive, within ourselves, the capacity for wonder.
