The Salamander International Art Prize #3
PastAbout the event
In 2025, Andrea Lu was selected as a finalist of the 3rd Salamander International Art Prize, the international contemporary art prize created by Monteoliveto Gallery, open to all artists and all artistic disciplines. Among 15 international artists, she featured in an edition marked by themes of remembrance and transmission.
The Salamander Prize was founded in tribute to Chantal Lora — director and co-founder of Monteoliveto Gallery, who passed away in 2022. A central figure in the European contemporary art scene, she had devoted over twenty years to promoting artists from across the globe, with an energy and generosity that the gallery continues to honour through this prize.
For this 3rd edition, Andrea Lu presented Cycle 2 – Heroines – Traveller – Homage, a work conceived as a direct tribute to Chantal Lora, and part of her Heroines series, which can be viewed in her online gallery. This deeply personal artistic gesture resonates with the very spirit of the prize: celebrating a woman who made art a bridge between cultures and people.
The award ceremony took place on 3 June 2025 at the Piccola Galleria Resistente, a space of artistic creation nestled in the historic heart of Naples, followed by a final celebration on 8 August at the Acquedotto Augusteo del Serino.
