About the event

In 2023, Andrea Lu took part in Sur la Route #2 — Internal Borders, the second instalment of the travelling exhibition series initiated by Monteoliveto Gallery and MG Paris in collaboration with Bicycle House and the association Bike for Heritage. Bringing together 18 international artists, this edition centred on an introspective and universal theme: internal borders — those invisible lines we draw within ourselves and between one another, whether psychological, cultural or rooted in identity.

What made the project truly distinctive was its very form. As part of the #MGSurLaRoute project, the exhibition literally took to the road: travelling by bike across Italy, covering 1,338 km over 27 days, crossing 15 regions and staging 7 ephemeral events along the way. In total, 4,062 km were covered — combining cycling and train travel — and 377 kg of CO₂ were saved, reflecting an artistic commitment that was equally an ecological one.

Andrea Lu also designed the event’s logo, commissioned by the gallery as the lasting visual identity for this recurring project, intended to take place year after year. The logo has since been used as the permanent visual identity of the #MGSurLaRoute project.

The exhibition then settled at Bicycle House within the Galleria Principe di Napoli, before continuing its journey to the Monteoliveto Gallery Éphémère in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, where it remained through the end of 2023.
